Nicol of Skene embarked on a comprehensive civils package for Silver Birches Phase 5 in Alford, commencing in September 2021 and culminating in September 2023. This encompassed site preparation, stormwater and foul water drainage installations, foundation and floor slab-related works, plot preparations, road and footpath construction, and utility setup to accommodate 43 dwellings.
The project was not without its challenges. The team confronted stringent deadlines for house handovers while coordinating with numerous other contractors to ensure strict adherence to the build plan. To boost efficiency, advanced techniques were embraced, including the use of excavators equipped with GPS, Tiltrotator Excavators, and Suction Excavators.
Stewart Milne Homes collaborated closely with Nicol of Skene throughout the project, leading to its successful delivery. This achievement is underscored by the ongoing positive feedback received from Site Manager Mark Glennie and, more recently, Deputy Managing Director Neil Thomson.
Testimonial from Neil Thomson (Deputy Managing Director, Stewart Milne Homes): “I just want to pass on my sincere appreciation and thanks to you and your whole team at Nicol of Skene for the amazing job you have done for us out at Alford. Your team has always been there, calmly delivering each time in exceptional circumstances and so I felt it was only but right, to express a small appreciation from me to you for helping and supporting us deliver this. I would be very grateful if you will convey my appreciation and thanks to everyone in your team.”
This case study, spanning from September 2021 to September 2023, stands as a testament to Nicol of Skene's commitment to delivering quality and excellence in every project, no matter the challenges faced.
