The project, which was completed in September 2024, involved a complete transformation of the property's exterior, encompassing both the front garden and a small patio at the rear of the house. Nicol of Skene worked closely with the client to understand their vision and create a design that met their needs. This project exemplifies Nicol of Skene's expertise in both landscaping, driveway and patio construction. Using modern equipment and techniques was evident throughout the project, with the utilisation of a new 5-ton Liu Gong slew. Sustainability was also a key focus, with Nicol of Skene utilising recycled subbase, sand, topsoil, and concrete from their own material recycling centre.
One of the key challenges of the project was laying the setts on the front garden area. The setts were of two different sizes, and the client desired a non-uniform pattern. Nicol of Skene's team of Marcin, Kevin, and Liam expertly addressed this challenge, creating a beautiful and functional space. Another challenge involved ensuring the smooth operation of the sliding gate. Neil from Nicol of Skene's team meticulously adjusted the gate to ensure it opened and closed flawlessly.

Quite a bit of underground work was involved, but Marcin and Kevin answered any queries we had in an understanding manner and took photographs to reassure us of the drainage, etc. Marcin was so knowledgeable of his trade, and his expertise was invaluable. The addition of coloured stone to our front wall made all the difference, and he went out of his way to obtain the material required; the dry stane dyke is impressive and the paving is faultless. Liam’s suggestion of a sliding gate completed the project and has received favourable comments from others. Keith and Liam’s constant supervision of the works was also very reassuring.
Neighbours remarked on how the project was progressing and that everything seemed to be carried out in such a professional manner.
