Another zero-tail swing 360° wheeled excavator heads for Nicol of Skene’s water main upgrade project in Inverness… in the form of a Liebherr A910 Compact!

Nicol of Skene are committed to ensuring a safe working environment for our operators and ground workers. With this in mind, we chose the Liebherr A910 Compact as the newest edition to our growing fleet. Introducing this excavator allows us to minimise risks further and is fitting with our plans to implement a zero-tail swing concept to all our future excavators.

As the excavator is compact, it makes it easy to manoeuvre, allowing maximum flexibility and performance in restricted, tight spaces on site. It also has only 300mm of rear ballast protruding beyond the wheelbase, allowing it to work within one carriageway lane on street works projects. Its lateral offset, three-piece boom arm with tilt hitch and single flotation tyres allows for maximum reliability and means it can work in any conditions.

This compact machine also boasts 4-wheel steering, a new concept in 360° wheeled excavators. It offers better versatility and a short tail swing radius of only 1.60m. In terms of better visibility, the Liebherr A910 Compact offers 360° cameras at the rear and side, giving the driver an optimal view of their surrounding areas for optimum safety on site.

The new excavator has already been deployed and is being put to work on one of our water main upgrade projects in Inverness.
