The Purpose of the Role

To assist the Commercial Team with all commercial elements of projects, ensuring cost control, maximising entitlement, understanding of contract mechanism and reporting month performance.  You will also assist in preparing, negotiation and analysing costs for tenders and contracts, supporting coordination of works and advising on a range of legal and contract issues.

 

The Duties

  • Provide clear, timely and accurate information to wider Commercial Team, Operational Team and Senior Management
  • Build relationships with Clients and Operational colleagues
  • Support senior members of the team in day-to-day activities and management
  • Ensure deadlines are actively managed and progress is reported as required
  • Follow company procedures, objectives and values
  • Carry out site visits including site measures
  • Support preparation of quotations and other procurement activities
  • Prepare monthly values for clients
  • Act diligently in identifying and capturing change, submitting relevant change documents, including early warnings and compensation events
  • Assist in preparation and agreement of final accounts
  • Review, document and analyse costs reports and support the wider Commercial team with the same

An exciting opportunity has become available with a leading Civil Engineering and Multi-Utility Contractor in the North-East of Scotland.   Nicol of Skene continually seek talented individuals and have a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Apprentice Quantity Surveyor to join our innovate and growing Commercial team.

 

As a Graduate Apprentice you will be offered an environment where you will develop your skills and technical knowledge whilst working towards an industry recognised qualification.  You will be fully supported whilst undergoing a 4-year Graduate Apprenticeship in Construction and the Built Environment Programme.  This will be a mix of “on the job” and “off the job” learning and you will be required to attend University on a block release basis.  

 

If you want to earn while you learn, then this is a fantastic opportunity for you.  We will welcome applications from recent school leavers, someone wishing to change career paths or individuals who have relevant industry experience and want to progress their career.  Most importantly we are looking for someone who is eager, genuinely interested in developing a skillset which will add value to the Team.

 

Entry requirements to the graduate apprenticeship programme is as follows:-
