An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a Mechanic for a top Civil Engineering contractor in the North East of Scotland.

Due to a growing fleet, Nicol of Skene are looking for a full-time, experienced mechanic to join our existing workshop team.  The role is a key position to support the business in a busy fast-paced environment ensuring our large fleet of vans and plant are maintained in line with company and legislative requirements. 

The Duties

  • To service and repair company vehicles, plant, trailers, and equipment effectively, efficiently, and economically
  • Carry out Pre-MOT inspections
  • Ensure that equipment that has an expired calibration or PAT date is not used to perform tasks
  • Carry out routine servicing as well as diagnosing and repairing faults on equipment with minimal supervision
  • Complete all relevant paperwork and documentation
  • Attend site where necessary to undertake duties

 The Requirements

  • Experience with hydraulics and electrics
  • Be flexible and have an enthusiastic approach to working in sometimes challenging conditions
  • Be capable of working on your own initiative
  • Hold a current Driving Licence

An excellent opportunity has become available with a leading Civil Engineering and Multi-Utility Contractor in the North East of Scotland. 

Nicol of Skene are currently recruiting for an Estimator to join our innovative and growing team.  The correct candidate should have a good knowledge of the industry and add value to our busy Commercial Team.  The position is based at our Main Office in Westhill, Aberdeenshire.

The successful candidate will successfully manage all estimating with regards to project pre and post contract by conducting estimates on materials, time and labour costs. They will also be competent in preparing, negotiating and analysing costs for tenders and contracts.

The Duties

  • Prepare and submit tenders, including assisting in all aspects of projects throughout the entire tendering cycle, from instruction through to contract award and completion.
  • Produce technically competent, financially viable and competitive tender packages.
  • Utilise all available information and technical knowledge to prepare cost effective, value engineered, competent and compliant tender quotations including keeping up to date with inflation, rates and projected timescale costs.
  • Lead and take part in pre-tender discussions.
  • Lead and take part in planning, tender and handover meetings with internal staff and commercial colleagues.
  • Maintain and populate Evaluate system.
  • Participate in Tender review with relevant Contracts/Sites Managers and Commercial Manager.
  • Assist Quantity Surveyors with the preparation and submission of Variations to contract.
  • Carry out site visits and measures.
  • Cost reporting and forecasting to Line Manager.
  • Produce tender statistics for analysis.
  • Participate in Business Generation reviews of submitted tenders.
  • Identify hazards, assess risks and make recommendations to Line Manager.
  • Generate business and establish client relationships.
